Dogwood Studio has exciting news to share about a new partnership with The Parlour at Manns Chapel in Chapel Hill, NC. We interviewed Aimee Flynn and Yvette Navarro to learn more about the significance of their historic space and how Dogwood Studio fits in so well with their vision. Here are a few quotes from the interview:
We believe big in “Love Big, Celebrate Small”, so all of our events are creative and a little bit different from other venues.
Q. Jennifer: I see that you are an all female founded company. What does that mean for you and for the community?
A. Yvette:
That actually means a lot to us. We are in a building and restored a building that was built in 1887, and because of that, it has two front doors:
one that was intended for men, and one that was intended for women, and they are right next to each other.
For us to see that everyday and know that now it is owned by women… we team up with female-founded companies, from floral designers to planners, chefs, and a lot of our staff.
[Also Dogwood Studio is owned and founded by Sam - she/her],
It is really important for the community to see female leadership, especially in an historic building like this one.
So yes, to us, it is really important everyday.
Q. Jennifer: As you know, Dogwood Studio is a yoga and meditation focused organization. How does yoga fit in with your company's vision and goals?
A. Yvette:
The space is spiritual in nature because it is a chapel. It has a feeling of good energy.
We also believe in doing things authentically and with a lot of thoughtfulness. So that type of class – yoga, of all the wellness classes, fits in so beautifully in this space.
I feel that when people take a yoga class in here, they are really able to meditate, be calm, and just BE.
Q. Jennifer: It sounds like such a wonderful fit between the visions. Finding that peace, finding that center.
A. Yvette:
We find that there is something special about doing something in a space you don’t expect.
So our chef dinners in the chapel are always such a hit because it’s such an unexpected location, and the same goes for wellness and yoga.
When you get a little white chapel and take that time to step away from the outside world and its busy-ness. It’s pretty impactful that way.

Background on The Parlour at Manns Chapel:
The Parlour is an historic chapel painstakingly restored that currently holds small, intimate events in their beautiful and creative space. It is an all female-founded company that is proud to support female partners in the community and serve as a positive image of what hard work can accomplish.
We have rented their beautiful space for the In Person classes in May and June. The historic venue will be a treat to come to with a country feel and plenty of parking. The facility is cleaned before and after the events. There is a hand sanitizer station as you enter and leave.
Your well-being is #1. These events are limited in number and also attendees must be vaccinated. We follow the CDC recommendations for gathering of vaccinated individuals.
Gathering with those vaccinated (including the wait period) is our first step.
Because of this, you can practice on your mat without a mask. You can also wear your mask while practicing if you prefer. Masks are worn when arriving and departing from your mat.
