Art and Yoga Retreat: Heart of Hope Wisdom from the Garden
Participants will explore how we can embody the meaning of HOPE in our mind, body, and heart with the beautiful backdrop of the fall colors of the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Through the integration of mindfulness practices of gentle yoga, meditation and creative journaling practices, participants will have the opportunity to express themselves to foster community, resilience, and hopeful intention.
“The Heart of Hope: Art and Yoga Retreat was an incredibly uplifting experience. People told me that I was glowing afterwards. I had so much fun doing yoga in such an incredible space overlooking the gardens. The teachers were kind, caring and engaged us in a meaningful way. The yoga was very relaxing, centering and gentle.. The art was so much fun. The teacher had so many different types of colors and objects to color with and be creative. They are had healthy fresh snacks. Everything was so well organized. They also gave us a beautiful coffee mug and art book to take home. I look forward to coming again.” -Amritari
Osteoporosis and Yoga Workshop
Yoga is good for your balance, bones, flexibility, brain and more. But some yoga postures and movements are associated with risks for those with osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a silent disease, so prevention is essential to prevent fractures. Learn what postures to avoid and how you can modify the postures to gain the same benefits and target, while being safe for your bones.
The workshop is perfect for students and teachers with or without osteoporosis. Movement and yoga teachers will gain invaluable information and experience. This is approved for IAYT CEUs for certified yoga therapists and also by Yoga Alliance for 4 hours.
“Dogwood Studio's Yoga for Osteoporosis course was EXCELLENT! Any practitioner , yoga or PT should participate in a course such as this. Also, very informative for a student of yoga.”
Love and Light: Setting New Year’s Intention
Take time to pause and encounter a sense of inner peace and calm connection filled with Love and Light. When you set an intention, you plant a seed in your subconscious that blossoms into a new thought pattern. Pausing to connect to Your Light or your Internal Refuge, supports our mental health and can help with anxiety. Our Inner Light dispels thoughts that are misunderstandings (false, like "I am not good enough.") - from our fear and being unblended with your true self (Light). We can support relief from common suffering by simple practices that support our accessing our inner refuge to explore our Inner Light.
“I have been a yoga student for 20 years. Dogwood provides the most complete and comprehensive classes for all ages, but especially for seniors. Classes are varied so the variety engages the mind — always being mindful of safety. I love the professional approach of asking — and valuing — student feedback. Bravo.”
“I can’t imagine my life without Sam and Dogwood studios. I have developed strength, balance, flexibility and inner peace through my practice with you. Thank you❤️”
Therapeutic Yin Yoga for Any-Body
Yin yoga incorporates the opportunity to spend more time in lying, kneeling and seated yoga poses. This practice provides an environment where we can spend time nourishing the deeper layers of the body and energy meridians, while incorporating mindfulness practices to support calming of the mind and nervous system. Sam Quote: “I think of it as mini meditation sessions within one class. The result is to lengthen the time we can spend in the present moment and train up this ability during our day to day experiences. This has been very healing for me.”
The series includes yoga pose archetypes, fascial targets and benefits, meridians and benefits, and propping for different skeletal & health needs.
Session 1, Yin Yoga Foundations - Functional Approach to Yin
Session 2, Dive deeper into Shoelace and Dragonfly
Session 3, Dive deeper into Saddle and Caterpillar Archetypes
Session 4, Dive deeper into Twists and Upper Body
