Chanting soothes your nerves. It calms your mind. And it promotes positive emotions. Yoga teachings say that in our current challenging time of Kali Yuga (the age quarreling and of misunderstanding), chanting is the tool to support being more at peace. Chanting mantras connects an individual to the Universal cosmic vibrations.

As you chant, the sounds made with your vocal cords resonate deeply. An fMRI study shows that chanting Om stimulates the vagal nerve and reduces the brain’s negative stress response. Chanting helps your body relax. It opens up the sinuses. Making and extending the sounds of the mantra strengthens and tunes the diaphragm and intercostal muscles, which leads to better control of the breath. In addition to physical benefits, many people report feeling more peaceful and connected to life after chanting mantra. Yoga teachings say that contemplating the meaning and significance of each mantra helps open your heart to universal love.

Dogwood Studios will be hosting a Peace Chanting Workshop on June 13th at 9:30 a.m. with Aviva. There will be two options to attend: Live In Person or Live Online. In this workshop, peace mantras will be practiced together in an uplifting community event. The meaning, sound and intention of each mantra will be presented and discussed. Each mantra will be broken into pronounceable segments before we chant them together. A handout with a pronunciation guide, mantra, meaning and significance will be provided. No chanting experience needed. Registration through Dogwood Studio's MindBody is available now. Choose In Person or Online and sign up like you do for classes. Memberships cannot be used for this workshop.
