According to the ancient science of Ayurveda (literally meaning life science), digestion is the seed of health. Food is life. It nourishes our mind, body and soul. But we need to be able to digest well in order to obtain the nutrients the body needs. When we are out of balance, we do not digest well and disease manifests. Therefore, as we look to maintain health, we need to explore how we digest. Ayurveda suggests that the biggest impact on our digestion is how we eat, not what we eat. Read more about the importance of healthy digestion from an Ayurvedic perspective.

Join Aviva Tulasi in an exploration of digesting well with Yoga for Digestive Health online for 3 sessions, once a week, Tuesday 9am-11am EST: September 29, October 5 and October 12.  Each session is $15.

The workshop series includes the following:

  • Each session there will be a 45 minute discussion about digestion:

    • Topics for the discussion include factors that impact your digestion and common disorders of the digestive system such as constipation, bloating, gas and irritable bowel syndrome.  Additionally we explore Ayurveda’s 13 habits of healthy eating and determine how to incorporate simple lifestyle practices that align to these habits.

  • Following the discussion ia a 75 minute gentle yoga practice to promote a healthy digestion and a sense of well-being.

    • The yoga practice will move slowly and mindfully to increase awareness of body movements focusing on the solar plexus, the upper abdominal area. Yoga poses with variations will be performed standing, seated and laying on the belly.

  • It is suggested that you attend all three days to gain the full benefit but each class is a stand-alone workshop session so it is ok to only attend one in the series.

  • In addition to the 3 sessions, the workshop includes a 30 minute coaching and support session with Aviva which will be scheduled individually.

What you will need to participate Online:

• a yoga mat or surface that you can practice on that is not slippery. Wearing socks can increase your chances of falling.

• a strap or similar object to allow you the ability to hold your foot more securely, e.g., hand towel
