Yoga Nidra, translates to the yoga of sleep, is a guided and passive meditation that provides therapeutic relaxation. As you listen to the soothing meditation, you consciously harness the biological function and benefits of sleep. You enter into a mind state between being awake and asleep, allowing your body to completely rest and restore.

You learn to rest in a place where you don’t have to do anything, allowing you to have a safe respite from the parts of you that may be out of balance with your true Self. This unblending practice nourishes you to support your healing and overall well-being.

Extensive research has been done on the health benefits of Yoga Nidra. The body-breath and awareness techniques taps into the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is said that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra provides the same biological benefits as 4 hours of sleep. Yoga Nidra is used as a modality for healing many forms of disease, physically as well as mentally and emotionally. Kamini Desai, PHD explains the numerous benefits of Yoga Nidra that are backed by scientific research in her book Yoga Nidra - The art of Transformational Sleep. She says Yoga Nidra removes excess stress, slows the rate of aging, helps you sleep better, reduces allergies and releases incomplete or unprocessed emotions. Other researchers have found that Yoga Nidra helps with addictive behaviors, pain, and conditions related to cardiovascular diseases.
