‘Serve with a full heart. By making others happy, you make yourself happy.’ - Swami Kripalu

Service week is one way that Dogwood Studios practices seva. Seva is “the practice of selfless service.” It is acting with heartfelt intention to make the lives of others better without expectations for the outcome of that action. We offer service through kindness and compassion with no expectation of personal gain.

An act of selfless service can be big or small. It is the attitude to the action, as opposed to the action itself, that matters. It can mean lending a hand to a loved one, holding space for someone to speak, or sharing resources like monetary donations with those who are in need. It is an opportunity to reconnect with the collective and forge meaningful connections. Identify your unique gifts and consider how you can share them in such a way that contributes to something bigger than yourself.

Live your yoga off the mat and join us for June Service Week! Proceeds from each of our classes will be donated to the LGBTQ Center of Durham. We hope sharing our yoga practice and raising money can provide a refuge of compassionate practice for all.

Dogwood Studios is committed to learning and growing! We strive for everyone to feel respected and supported, to be treated equally, and to be celebrated for who they are. We are very excited about our ongoing endeavor to make Dogwood Studios a refuge and beacon of compassionate practice by including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
