Tap Into Your Creativity

Ready for Yin? Friday night Yin happens Feb. 17th, March 3rd and March 31st.

Beverly Dyer and the team at Dogwood Studios will be teaming up to facilitate an Art and Yoga Retreat: Heart of Hope on March 11th at the NC Botanical Garden.

Aviva interviewed Bev earlier in the week to learn a little more about Bev’s motivation to share art and how art and yoga complement each other.

The following is a short excerpt of the interview. Click Here to read the full interview. You can also listen to the 12 minute interview by clicking on the play button above.

I used my art to heal my own life journey.

Art is much like Yoga. Being creative to me, it is about slowing down and just noticing. It's about using all your senses as you go through the day. Art can be beautiful. It can be sad, it can be moving. It can be pretty personal. It can be, you know, anything you want it to be.

I think that the noticing and then expressing yourself with feelings is what makes people creative.

Art can be meditative … but I'm moving my hands. I'm using my senses, and it can be cathartic. It can be inspiring. It can be spiritual. And I find all those things to be true about Yoga.

The biggest thing about our journaling is about the process. It's not so much about the outcome. We don't, we don't go into an art journal to create something for anybody else to see. It's basically just for us

I have so many ideas to share with people. I'm really excited about our event coming up.

The Art and Yoga Retreat on March 11th will be hosted by the NC Botanical Garden. Registration through NC Botanical Garden HERE: go.unc.edu/NCBGyoga.
