Yoga for Balance: Reducing Risk and Fear of Falling
Our balance naturally changes as we age. This is often associated with an increased risk of falling. Balance training helps reduce the risk and fear of falling. Improving balance is a complex multidimensional task. Good news- one of the many benefits of practicing yoga is experiencing an improvement in balance! Workshop participants will leave with an understanding of:
What influences our balance (physically, emotionally, daily environment)
How balance changes as we age
The negative impact of falls/loss of balance on our health as we age
Why practicing balance exercise is beneficial and important for health (reducing risk of falling and fear of falling)
How to safely participate in and/or modify a yoga practice to improve balance
Individual awareness and knowledge of a personal safe home practice for balance
This workshop is taught by Rachel Kubinski- a physical therapist and certified yoga teacher at Dogwood Studio.
