Know Your Knees – Wisdom for a Knee-Friendly Yoga Practice

This 90-minutes online workshop is presented by Holly Boss, MS, PT, Cert. MDT. The workshop is ideal for those that have knee mobility restrictions or pain. And this session is also perfect for those that want to maintain healthy knees to support doing the things you love. What better time than Spring to attend this workshop!

Objectives for you and What to Expect:

  • Understand how the knee moves as part of a system with the ankle and hip/pelvis.

  • Learn how to do a simplified lower body self-assessment.

  • Understand the differences between a mobility vs a stability issue.

  • Learn a few simple mobility exercises to address joint restriction issues.

  • Learn how to predict when and how props or modifications could be helpful based on your self-assessment.

  • Learn when to see a professional.

Body in Motion Physical Therapy

Holly’s Bio:

Holly is a physical therapist with over 20 years of experience helping people reach their goals of living without pain and doing the things that they love.

A Purdue University graduate from the School of Life Sciences, Holly took a position with Pfizer in order to explore a career in research, but quickly found that it lacked the desired human factor of 1:1 interaction.  This realization led her to pursue a post-professional degree in physical therapy.

After a few years in practice as a physical therapist, Holly became increasingly aware of the lack of a cohesive physical therapy approach for assessing and treating spine and extremity conditions. She trained in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), obtaining certification in 2014.  Her successful implementation of the McKenzie (MDT) Method kept her in high demand with both physician and word of mouth referrals.  Holly served as mentor to both coworkers and physical therapy students for several years in the outpatient orthopedic setting, and advanced in leadership to a multi-clinic directorship. 

With the onset of the global pandemic, Holly integrated telehealth into her practice model early in 2020, helping patients access physical therapy from the safety of their own homes. Growing healthcare trends that take decision-making away from patients and clinicians led Holly to leave the traditional volume-based physical therapy model in order to form her own company, Body In Motion Physical Therapy in 2021.  Her current practice includes both telehealth and mobile physical therapy provided right in her clients’ homes, yards, or offices, in order to remove all barriers to needed treatment.

Holly is passionate about treating all whom she meets with empathy and integrity.  She believes that anyone who exercises and lives an active lifestyle is an athlete and loves helping individuals become the best possible versions of themselves.  She believes that getting the right guidance from the right professional at the right time leads to the best outcomes.  

Holly lives in Hillsborough with her husband, David, and their two cats.  She has a daughter who is a student at Appalachian State and a son who graduated from NC State.  She enjoys music performance and exercise of many types.  In her spare time, she can be found enjoying the outdoors, singing and playing the piano in her church’s praise band, exercising, or reading.
