Collaboration with Holly Boss from Body In Motion Physical Therapy
Dogwood Studio is pleased to have a partnership with Holly Boss from Body In Motion Physical Therapy. Holly has completed a well-received knee workshop, Know Your Knees – Wisdom for a Knee-Friendly Yoga Practice, and we look forward to future collaboration opportunities with her. The knee workshop is offered on rotation as an On Demand pre-recorded video available with Green or Gold Memberships. Holly’s expertise and knowledge and understanding of the body through a physical therapists’ perspective is a wonderful fit with yoga at Dogwood Studio.
Why is Body In Motion Physical Therapy Different?
Body in Motion Physical Therapy specializes in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (MDT). MDT was developed by world-renowned expert physiotherapist Robin McKenzie and is practiced extensively throughout the world. MDT is a reliable assessment process used for all musculoskeletal or orthopedic conditions such as back/neck pain, pain in the arms/legs, sciatica, numbness/tingling, stiffness and tightness to determine the cause of your symptoms.
To simplify, unlike many traditional physical therapy methods, with an MDT assessment, we can zero in on the root source of your problem. There are no diagnostic tests or MRI’s. Once the true source of the pain is diagnosed, we will work together on a targeted approach to healing — without medication, heat, cold, ultrasound, injections, or surgery. MDT is an active treatment philosophy that emphasizes teaching you how to manage and treat the pain yourself. Manual therapy is provided when indicated, but YOU are encouraged to take an active role in your own recovery through the education we provide for self treatment and prevention. Holly’s Bio:
Holly is a physical therapist with over 20 years of experience helping people reach their goals of living without pain and doing the things that they love.
A Purdue University graduate from the School of Life Sciences, Holly took a position with Pfizer in order to explore a career in research, but quickly found that it lacked the desired human factor of 1:1 interaction. This realization led her to pursue a post-professional degree in physical therapy.
After a few years in practice as a physical therapist, Holly became increasingly aware of the lack of a cohesive physical therapy approach for assessing and treating spine and extremity conditions. She trained in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), obtaining certification in 2014. Her successful implementation of the McKenzie (MDT) Method kept her in high demand with both physician and word of mouth referrals. Holly served as mentor to both coworkers and physical therapy students for several years in the outpatient orthopedic setting, and advanced in leadership to a multi-clinic directorship.
Growing healthcare trends that take decision-making away from patients and clinicians led Holly to leave the traditional volume-based physical therapy model in order to form her own company, Body In Motion Physical Therapy in 2021. Her current direct care practice includes both on-site therapy sessions at Hidden Physique Personal Training in Mebane and mobile physical therapy provided right in her clients’ homes, yards, or offices. Telehealth is available upon request. These options remove physical barriers to needed treatment.
Holly is passionate about treating all whom she meets with empathy and integrity. She believes that anyone who exercises and lives an active lifestyle is an athlete and loves helping individuals become the best possible versions of themselves. She believes that getting the right guidance from the right professional at the right time leads to the best outcomes.
Holly lives in Mebane with her husband, David, and their two cats. She has a daughter who is a student at Appalachian State and a son who graduated from NC State. She enjoys music performance and exercise of many types. In her spare time, she can be found enjoying the outdoors, singing and playing the piano in her church’s praise band, exercising, or reading.
